Gregory "The Grim Reaper" Scarpa, Sr. (1928–1994) was a notorious hitman and a long-time FBI informant associated with the Colombo Family. Scarpa's criminal career began in the 1950s, eventually rising to the rank of caporegime. He was involved in numerous illicit activities, including illegal gambling, loansharking, extortion, and murder. Scarpa was notably involved in the infamous case of three missing civil rights workers in Mississippi in 1964, during which he allegedly tortured a suspect to extract information.
In 1993, Scarpa was sentenced to prison for three murders and died in custody. His life was marked by violence and intrigue, including a unique detail where he would leave the number "666" on his victims' pagers, symbolizing the number of the beast.
